San Francisco has a few national parks.
The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is a famous park in the Bay Area that protects 80,000 acres of beaches, hills, and historic sites. It's where the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz are, two of San Francisco's most well-known landmarks. Muir Woods National Monument is only 40 minutes from San Francisco. It has strange forest groves and some of the tallest old-growth redwoods in the world. It's one of the best day trips from San Francisco, named after the famous environmentalist John Muir. Sequoia National Park is in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, close to Kings Canyon National Park and Yosemite National Park. It has beautiful scenery and lots of outdoor activities. It also has giant sequoias, the largest trees in the world. People like the park's hiking trails and other things to do there.
